On the influence of Sappho on Himerius cf. Rizzo, Saggio su Imerio il sofista, in Riv. Fil. Cl., XXVI 513-16 (1898). In Orations, I. 4 the words τὸ λέχος Ὁμήρου were incomprehensible and Edmonds still omits Ὁμήρου, but the reading is undoubtedly correct and the significance is now apparent from the new epithalamium of Hector and Andromache.
