Note 907 — Chapter V · THE ADVANCE ON JERUSALEM 1191-1192.
Reading edition
We hear nothing of a taking of Gaza; but Gaza had long ceased to be a place of any military importance. Richard and his companions passed through it on their way back to Ascalon (Est., l. 9389, Itin., 356), so its Moslem garrison, if it had had one, had evidently been withdrawn.
