This passage, incidentally, affords proof that at the time it was written the legal length of a “Sabbath Day’s journey” had not been determined, for from Shunem to Elisha’s abode on Carmel was a distance of some thirty to forty kilometres (R. Kittel, Die Bücher der Könige, Göttingen, 1900, p. 200).
