Note 699 — Chapter VII · THE BABYLONIAN “EVIL DAYS” AND THE SHABATTUM
Reading edition
Compare H. Zimmern, in E. Schrader, Die Keilinschriften und das Alte Testament,³ Berlin, 1903, pp. 620 sq. The possible influence of Pleiades cults has been worked out with much ingenuity by H. Grimme (Das israelitische Pfingstfest und der Plejadenkult, Paderborn, 1907), who discerns in the duration of the Hebrew Pentecost, or Feast of Weeks, as well as in the rites which marked that agricultural festival, the predominance of a septenary division based on the observation of these seven stars.
