Note 717 — Chapter VII · THE BABYLONIAN “EVIL DAYS” AND THE SHABATTUM
Reading edition
H. C. Rawlinson, The Cuneiform Inscriptions of Western Asia, London, 1891, iv,² pl. 32-33. The complete text was first translated by A. H. Sayce (“A Babylonian Saints’ Calendar,” Records of the Past, London, 1876, vii, 157-170) and shortly thereafter by W. Lotz (Quæstiones de historia Sabbati, Leipzig, 1883, pp. 39-49). The passage relating to the seventh day has been many times rendered by Assyriologists, not without variations in the result. I have used the version in the scholarly work of R. W. Rogers, Cuneiform Parallels to the Old Testament, New York, 1912, p. 189.
