Note 614 — Chapter VI · LUNAR CALENDARS AND THE WEEK
Reading edition
The Stseelis, an Indian tribe of British Columbia, have a singular tradition that their ancestors used to observe a kind of Sabbath ceremony long before the coming of the whites. The people assembled every seventh day for dancing and praying. It is impossible to explain this tradition apart from European influence at some remote time (C. Hill-Tout, in Journal of the Anthropological Institute, 1904, xxxiv, 329).
