Note 336 — Chapter IV · MARKET DAYS
Reading edition
The date of the obsolescence of the nundinæ is not definitely known. The fasti Philocali (354 A.D.) marks the days of the seven-day week by the letters A-G, and gives side by side the old nundinal letters A-H (Corpus inscriptionum Latinarum, i, pt. i,² 256 sqq.). This arrangement had probably become a feature of the state calendar since the Sunday legislation of Constantine.
