In connection with Joyce Dighton, widow of Robert Dighton, of Stourton, there is a record that she left her two sons, Robert and William, her leases in Waddingworth, and in Maidenwell, Louth. This indicates a connection. The Waddingworth property had belonged to Tupholme Abbey. Maidenwell, also, was a sacred place, where is still a well, in the cellar of the manor house, which I have seen, dedicated to the “Maiden,” i.e., Virgin.
