By an Inquisition taken at Partney, 8 Sep. 7 Hen. VIII (A.D. 1491), it was found that Bernard Eland, son of Eustace Eland, late of Stirton, Esquire is an idiot, and that he has an infirmity called “Morbus Caducus; and he held his manor of Stirton of the lord the King, by the service of two parts of a knight’s fee.” (“Archit. S. Journ.” 1195, p. 74).
