Note 36 — SALISBURY, 50
Reading edition
This would seem to have been a mere short-lived association, with its head quarters at St. John’s, and may, perhaps, be compared—with a difference—to the nearly contemporary ‘Order of Marlborough,’ described in N.R.S. vi. 387. There are obvious geographical reasons why it cannot have been connected with any foul club of the name (there was a long succession of such) in London.
