Note 62 — LECTURE III. THE PROVERBS OF DIFFERENT NATIONS COMPARED.

Jeremy Taylor appears to have found much delight in the proverbs of Italy. In the brief foot notes which he has appended to the Holy Living alone I counted five and twenty such, to which he makes more or less remote allusion in the text. There is an excellent article on “Tuscan Proverbs” in Fraser’s Magazine, Jan. 1857.
