Xen. Symp. VII. 5. I have elsewhere (Myth. and Mon. of Anc. Athens, p. cxvii) discussed the possible influence of such mimetic presentations on the fixed mythological types of vase-paintings. Dr Frazer (Golden Bough, 2nd ed. vol. III. p. 165) makes the interesting suggestion that in sacred dramas may be found a possible meeting-ground between Euhemerists and their opponents.
