An error of the quartermaster's in copying. There is no Cape Roman on the north coast of Cuba. The captain had no doubt written Cayo Romano. Cayo Romano is a small island, one of the "Jardines del Rey" that fringe the north coast of eastern Cuba, bordering on the Old Bahama Channel.
