Note 42 — I 1185-1325

Reading edition

Cf. the leixapren and refrain of the cantiga danced and sung at the end of Gil Vicente’s Romagem de Aggravados (Por Maio era, por Maio). The parallelism and leixapren are present also in religious poems by Alfonso X: C. M. 160, 250, 260. Snr. J. J. Nunes has noted that in modern peasant dances, accompanied with song, the dancers sometimes pause while the refrain is sung.
