Reading edition
In Tras-os-Montes potatoes are called castanholas, i. e. large chestnuts, which recalls the fact that Andrea Navagero, eating potatoes for the first time at Seville in 1526, considered them to taste like chestnuts. In parts of Galicia they are called castañas d’a terra.
