This is the translation of the reading οίκοθεν, which is probably incorrect. Solanus proposes αὐτόθεν, and Kaltwasser proposes ἀπόθεν, "from a distance," which he has adopted in his version, "und liess die bewaffneten, die von fern standen, mit furchbarem Geschre* anrücken."
