Cæsar calls the root Chara (Civil War, iii. 48. Comp. Plinius, N.H. 19, c. 8). These facts are mentioned in Cæsar. The events in the neighbourhood of Dyrrachium and Apollonia must be studied in Cæsar, Dion Cassius, Book 41, and Appianus, Book ii.
