Here he omits the heresies of the Quartodecimans and the Encratites, which receive notice in Book VIII, pp. 113, 115, 116 supra, and passes on to Marcion, who was a contemporary of Valentinus. It is plain, therefore, that he does not attempt in the summary to keep either to order of date or to that of the earlier books.
