Note 111 — BOOK X SUMMARIES, AND THE WORD OF TRUTH

Francis Legge translation

This is evidently an allusion to the extraordinary theory of Hippolytus’ master, Irenæus (Book II, c. 33, § 3, p. 331, Harvey), that Christ having suffered at 30 years old lived and taught after the Resurrection until He was “40 or 50,” thus “passing through every age.” Cf. Forerunners, II, p. 61 and note.
