Note 14a — Chapter I · ABBEY LANDS.

Reading edition

The dean of Peterborough, in his supplement to Gunton, differs somewhat in the account he there gives of this festival. He has turned the wine into beer; but made the tankard hold twenty-five gallons. And the nuns to whom the allowance was made resided, according to this Doctor, in Holbourn, instead of Kilbourn; an error pointed out in Naysmith’s edition of Tannar’s Notitia. Vide p. 297, of Gunton’s History of Peterborough.
