Note 44 — INTRODUCTION.
Reading edition
See the letter quoted in Blackwood’s Magazine, April 1817, p. 69. The present extract has been compared with the original in the Advocates’ Library. In the Transactions of the Iona Club “not one of ten of them hath breaches” is made to read “not one of them hath breaches,” and this very serious error has been duly copied by subsequent writers on the Highland dress.
