Note 27 — Library of Lambeth Palace.
Reading edition
This is the first edition of the new translation by Royal Authority, made in the reign of James the First, and commonly called King James’s Bible. Its rarity in a perfect state is very great, the engraved title prefixed to the Work, being frequently wanting. To settle the controversy respecting the genuineness of the text of the authorised version now in use, this edition of the Bible has been literally reprinted with the greatest care at the Oxford University Press.
