Against Demosthenes also similar calumnies were uttered, and the lines (Plut. Demosth. c. 30),

Εἴπερ ἴσην ῥώμην γνώμη, Δημόσθενες, εἶχες,

Οὔποτ’ ἂν Ἑλλήνων ἦρξεν Ἄρης Μακεδών,

have been misrepresented, as having reference to it.
