Nicolaus of Damascus' life of Augustus

Note 20 — TRANSLATION

Clayton Morris Hall translation

L. Domitius Ahenobarbus was killed at Pharsalus (Cic., Phil., 2, 71; Caes., B. C., 3, 99; Suet., Nero, 2). Culex 26 and 27, ‘Octavi venerande’ and ‘sancte puer’ show that this was addressed to Octavius after his election to the office of pontifex; see Class. Philol. 15, p. 26.
