Note 146 — TRANSLATION
Clayton Morris Hall translation
See Cic., Phil., 5, 6; Fam. 10, 1, ff. Plancus had been nominated consul for the year 42 by Caesar. He held Gallia Comata under the provisions of the ‘lex Julia,’ concerning the assignment of provinces. Antony endeavored to displace him through the ‘lex tribunicia de provinciis,’ enacted in the early part of June, 44, but his position was confirmed by a ‘senatus consultum’ of December 20, which provided that the provincial governors should retain their tenures until the senate itself should appoint successors (Cic., Phil., 3, 38).
