Eulenburg, to whose excellent work ("Lehrbuch der functionellen Nervenkrankheiten," Berlin, 1871) I shall have frequent occasion to refer, has partly misunderstood the drift and scope of my argument, a misfortune which I owe to the impossibility of giving, in the "System of Medicine," more than the briefest and most superficial sketch, both of my ideas and of the facts on which they rest.
