The journal of Col. James Burd, while building Fort Augusta, at Shamokin, 1756-57, is in the Penna. Archives, 2d ser., ii. p. 743. Loudon caused Fort Loudon to be built on the Tennessee in 1756. There is a MS. plan of it in the De Brahm MS. in Harvard College library.
