Note 881 — Chapter VIII · (continued 2)

Reading edition

[One of the most interesting of such is The Anthology of New Netherland, by Henry C. Murphy, published (125 copies) by the Bradford Club in 1865, which includes, with enlargements, Mr. Murphy’s privately printed Jakob Steendam, a Memoir of the First Poet in New Netherland, The Hague, 1861. Steendam was the minister of the Protestant Church in New Amsterdam. Muller, Catalogue (1872), nos. 1,092 et seq.; (1877) nos. 3,063 et seq., notes several of Steendam’s publications. Cf. Carter-Brown Catalogue, ii. 862, 898.—Ed.]
