This is his North Mexican States, vol. i. pp. 27, 71-76, 82-87, which is at present his chief treatment of the subject. He touches it incidentally in his Central America, vol. i. p. 153; Mexico, vol. ii. pp. 293, 465-470; California, vol. i. p. 8; Northwest Coast, vol. i. pp. 44-46; but he promises more detailed treatment in his volumes on New Mexico and Arizona, which are yet to be published.
