Royer-Collard, Pierre Paul (1763-1845), was in 1811 Professor of Philosophy in Paris, opposed materialism, supported the Scottish School of Reid and Stewart, and originated the ‘Doctrinaire’ School of which Jouffroy and Cousin were afterwards representative.
