Inkran, an ant, is the native name of the country Europeans call Accra, which name was probably given by the Portuguese to their settlement there (the earliest they made according to the traditions of the natives) to commemorate the voyage of Hanno; Accra being one of the five cities raised by him between the Soloe Promontory, or Cape Bojador, and the River Lixus or Ouro.
