Reading edition
In this part (III) he makes bold to say (1559): “Cum sim Christicola, normam non est mihi cura / de propriis facere quæ gentiles posuere.” In the next part also (IV, accents) he insists on the habit of the actual Latin verse of the time (2295): “hos solos usu debes servare moderno”; and again (2329) “Accentus normas legitur posuisse vetustas; / non tamen has credo servandas tempore nostro.”
