Note 52 — Chapter V · James Watt—Lineage and Birthplace—Boyhood and Apprenticeship.
Reading edition
The mansion house of the Shaws is now principally occupied as manorial offices. The fine old garden and pleasure-grounds have been presented by Sir John Shaw to the people of Greenock as a public park for ever. It is now called “The Watt Park,” and a more beautiful spot (bating the smoke of the busy town below) is scarcely to be found in Britain.
