Life and Times of David. Miscellaneous Writings of C. H. Mackintosh, vol. VI

Note 22 — Chapter VII

Reading edition

In 2 Samuel xxiv. 24, we read, "So David bought the threshing-floor and the oxen for fifty shekels of silver." And in 1 Chron. xxi. 25, we read, "So David gave to Ornan for the place six hundred shekels of gold by weight." In Samuel, only the "threshing-floor and the oxen" for sacrifice at the time of the plague are mentioned; while in Chronicles "the place"—the whole temple hill—seems to be comprehended.
