Letters of John Calvin, Volume I

Note 17 — II.—To Francis Daniel.[17]

Reading edition

Francis Daniel, advocate of Orleans, the fellow-student and friend of Calvin at the university of that town. Eccl. i. 9.) From several letters of the Reformer it appears, (1559-1560,) that while fully acknowledging the necessity of a reformation of the Church, Francis Daniel remained inwardly attached to Rome. His two sons, Francis and Peter Daniel, distinguished themselves in the study of law and literature.
