Note 3 — XXIV LEPE-A-MOA
Reading edition
This part of the legend of Lepe-a-moa belongs to Waikiki and to Palama.3 It is also one of the ancient long stories handed down from generation to generation among the Hawaiians. It came from the days of Kakuhihewa, who was the King Arthur of Oahu traditions and whose chiefs were “the Knights of the Round Table” after whom most of the noted localities of Oahu were named. However, this goes back into the misty past only about four hundred years.
