por más que, although, however much. Por... que is a concessive conjunctive formula, followed by indicative or subjunctive according as fact or ideation is prominent. The intervening word may be noun, adjective or adverb, e.g. por ocasión que venga, "whatever occasion may arise," por fuerte que fuese, "however strong he might be," and cf. below, page 56, note 2.
