James's Account of S. H. Long's Expedition, 1819-1820, part 2

Note 51 — {93} CHAPTER VII {V}

Reading edition

Bonhomme (Good Man) is the name of a creek, a township, and a post-office in St. Louis County, but has never been the name of a town. The post-office of Bonhomme is of comparatively recent origin, and even now contains but one store. The name as used in the text apparently applies collectively to the settlements along Bonhomme Creek.—Ed.
