Note 1091 — Chapter XI

There are numerous works deduced immediately from the “Vedas,” called the “Upa-Ved.” Four works are included under this denomination, namely, the “Ayus,” “Gandharva,” “Dhanus,” and “Sthāpatya.” The third “Upaveda” was composed by Viswamitra for the use of the Kshatriyas, the warrior caste.
