Note 292 — CRITICAL NOTES ON VARIOUS PASSAGES OF THE NEW TESTAMENT. (continued 2)
William Edie translation
See Blass, Grammar of N. T. Greek, § 31, 6, Eng. Tr., p. 80 f. Compare the similar German idiom used in the titles of books, “von X. Y. ordentlicher Professor.” How naturally this comes to a Hebrew is shown by the fact that Sal. Bär, in his translation of the Massoretic note at the end of the books of Samuel (Leipzig, Tauchnitz, 1892, p. 158), among other lovely things has “ad mortem Davidis rex Israelis.”
