Questi è Petrus Manducator o Comestor, in Italia Mangiatore, in Francia le Mangeur; cosí chiamato per l'avidità con cui, leggendo, divorava i libri. Nato a Troyes in Francia, morí a Parigi nel 1198. La sua opera sulla Bibbia è detta appunto Scholastica historia. V. Lalanne, Dictionnaire hist. de la France, art. Comestor; Migne, voi. 198.
