Note 25 — Chapter XVII · Barossa, Badajoz, and Albuera.

Reading edition

In his notes on the various sieges in the Peninsula, Sir A. Dickson frequently differs from Sir J. Jones’s well-known work. But as the latter had more to do with engineering details, and as Sir A. Dickson’s MSS. contain occasional marginal notes of later date, saying that his statement is correct, and Sir J. Jones’s wrong, it has been decided to accept his account, when differing from the latter work.
