Note 694 — Chapter VI

H. White translation

Concubina enim tua fieri pudica mulier nolebat, uxor volebat. Illa cujus amore rex deperibat, pertinacissime negabat sui corporis potestatem. (Polus ad Regem, p. 176.) For a modest woman, though willing to be thy wife refused to become thy concubine. Though a king was consumed by love for her, she obstinately refused to yield to him the power over her person. Cardinal Pole is a far more trust-worthy authority than Sanders.
