Reading edition

The government sent troops against the revolutionists, and some fighting ensued without decisive results. At last the contending parties came to an arrangement by which Aizpuru agreed to surrender the person of Casorla, and to recognize the 2d designado as the provisional president. He also agreed to lay down his arms. The government consented to pay Aizpuru's war expenses, and to issue a general amnesty. Pan., Mem. Sec. Gob., 1879, 7-12; S. F. Chronicle, June 19, 25, 1879.
