In Zamacois, Hist. Méj., v. 631-4, it is stated that 500,000 pesos were sent from Mexico for war purposes. Cavo, in Tres Siglos, iii. 37, says that the viceroy sent 200,000 pesos, though 1,000,000 were asked for, but that he had quite recently expended 600,000 pesos on the other provinces.
