Note XXX‑44 — Chapter XXX · FURTHER PIRATICAL RAIDS. 1681-1687.

Reading edition

According to Morel, Visita, MS., 32, and Robles, Doc. Hist. Mex., ii. 435, the sacking of Granada occurred in 1685. But Lussan's date is supported by his mention of the fact that Leon and Realejo had been sacked by the English pirates before the arrival of the French on the coast, Journal du Voy., 112; and Dampier states that those cities were captured in August 1685. Voy., 216-21.
