In the time of Alvarado the tribute of cacao was 1,400 xiquipiles, and this was paid until 1542. Requête d'Atitlan, in Ternaux-Compans, Voy., série i. tom. x. 420-2. A xiquipil was 8,000, and the number of chocolate-beans contributed was therefore 11,200,000.
