The enmity of Rhodes and Philadelphia is proved by Blinkenberg's La chronique du temple Lindien. It is, accordingly, probable that the defeat of Chremonides by Agathostratus at Ephesus belongs to this struggle, though something may still be said, I think, for 242 B.C. See Hellenistic Athens, p. 197, n. 2.
