Note 675 — Chapter XVIII · WRESTLING
Reading edition
J.H.S. xxv. p. 280, διαλαμβάνειν, μεσοφέρδειν, μεσοφέρδην, μέσον ἔχειν; διαλαμβάνειν means to clasp both hands round an opponent’s waist; περιτιθέναι means rather to put one arm round an opponent as in taking a grip for the heave, but does not necessarily imply that the hands are clasped. Vide Jüthner, Philostratus, p. 28.
