Note 18 — Little Dictionary of Creole Proverbs.
Reading edition
This proverb is founded upon one of the many amusing Creole animal-fables, all bearing the title: Compè Bouki épis Compè Lapin (“Daddy Goat and Daddy Rabbit”.) The rabbit always comes out victorious, as in the stories of Uncle Remus.
